Ancient Aliens – Beautiful Structures

The problem with human beings is that we have a tendancy to contradict ourselves to some degree. A large number of the population believe in stories they are told from ancient texts, use ancient herbal remedies and generally consider anything “ancient” to be wise and true. Just because it’s really old. As if people who lived long ago knew something we didn’t. Some kind of secret knowledge or way of being that is more in tune with nature and spirituality.

But on the flip side, ancient alien theorists exclaim about how impossible it would be for ancient mankind to build such incredible structures like the pyrimids in Egypt and South America. That they must have gotten help from extraterrestrials.

Well is it not possible that they could be wise and true because of ancient aliens? Yeah, it’s possible but it’s not likely. The reality is they really weren’t all that wise and true. A lot of what they believed back then was pretty ridiculous. Just because they were right about some stuff doesn’t validate everything.

The stuff they built was pretty amazing for their time, but so is the stuff we build. Yet we are not told what to build by aliens. In fact the stuff we build today is way more complex and amazing than the stuff that was built in the ancient world. I think this simple fact alone pretty much invalidates most of those arguments about ancient man being influenced by aliens.

I mean lets seriously look at this. If we got a whole bunch of us together today, gave ourselves a very realistic time frame of 40 years and a bunch of primative tools, we could build a pyrimid out of stone. It would be laborous work, take a long time and a lot of patience, but we could get it done. It would be every bit as ornate as the structures of the ancient world, because we took our time on it and didn’t rush it.

Today we have a different sense of design and a faster pace of development. Nobody is going to wait 40 years today for a building to be built. We use materials like steel, concrete and glass to build huge structures that reach high into the sky. Because of these materials we can build structures that shoot nearly straight up. The reason they were building pyrimids in the ancient world was because the design was easy to understand and worked well with gravity. You start with a large base and get smaller as you go up. It’s less likely to tip over that way. They didn’t have the engineering expertise or materials back then to pull off what we can do today. If they had truly been helped by aliens, one would think those aliens woud have clued them in on some of this knowledge. Maybe started them off by mining iron ore, teaching them how to make steel and introducing them to steam power and/or fossil fuels.

But this didn’t happen. We know this didn’t happen because there is no evidence of such operations going on back then. The best we get are a bunch of structures made of stone. Very well done, but with enough time and patience and unaware of any other way to do things, the human mind can find ways to make beautiful things with what it has available to it.

I think it is completely irresponsible to suggest that ancient man had to be influenced or guided by alien visitors in order to accomplish any of the things they did. For starters it’s an insult to human ingenuity and last it’s baseless in its claim. One only need look back several hundred years to great renaissance artists who carved beautiful statues out of stone. We know who those artists were and we know how they did what they did. If anything, this proves that humanity has a great legacy of stone working skills that dates back a long time.

Ancient Aliens Markers and Refueling

I’ll be doing a series of posts based on ancient alien theory and the History Channel show by the same title. This is the first in that series. As such if you have not seen the show you should definitely check it out. Your reason for watching it could be one of the following:

I believe it
I like a good laugh
I enjoy all the interesting locations and stories they tell
I want to see Giorgio Tsoukalos’s hair slowly morph into Nicolas Cage bird hair

Whatever your reason happens to be, you might not fully grasp what I’m going to argue in these posts without having seen the show. Unless you already know something about ancient aliens.  Either way I’ll do my best to explain. Starting with the following argument.

In the show it is argued that certain ancient structures were put in place across multiple lands for ancient aliens to navigate earth. That possibly these sites were also used as refueling stations for alien ships.

Ok. For starters, this idea is just plain out silly. Let’s take a step back and look at who we claim to be dealing with here; ALIENS THAT TRAVELLED ACROSS THE UNIVERSE TO GET HERE!

I seriously doubt that such an advanced race of a beings (should they be or have been visiting earth) require stone structures in order to navigate our planet. If they can navigate space, a single planet should not be too difficult to get around. Just to add insult to injury, these theorists also claim that it’s possible these markers could also be refueling stations.

I’m willing to give you one maybe two refueling stations on earth. That I might say is possible. But the idea that they might need several of them, a few hundred miles a way from each other, begins to make it look like these aliens are all piled into a station wagon with an 18 gallon tank and need to stop off every couple hundred miles to refuel. YET THEY CAN GET ACROSS THE UNIVERSE JUST FINE!

You see how silly this idea begins to look? There is really very little common sense being used in a lot of the speculation that is presented on the show.

Let’s be honest, this show is all based on one giant leap to begin with. The idea that aliens visited the earth in the past and played gods to mankind. I think that is a wonderful and fascinating story, but there is no solid evidence to back it up. Thus every episode follows presenting “evidence” which is really nothing more than “replace X with aliens.” X being anything from ancient stonework to greek gods to bigfoot to ghosts to demons to whatever. What this show presents is a modern day sci-fi/mythology blend. The fact that the show is in its forth season right now, only proves that people love mythology and science fiction blended together. Hey it worked for Star Wars and it worked for Stargate so why don’t we make a show about it? To be fair Stargate was based on ancient alien theory so I’m not suggesting that Stargate came first, simply that it proved that people love the combination of mythology and sci-fi as entertainment. I happen to love both myself and so Star Wars and Stargate are two of my favorite fanchises. So of course Ancient Aliens (the show) is going to fit perfectly with me. That said, 99% of what these people speculate on this show is just that “pure speculation” and nothing more.

2012 Story Image

Have no fear. It’s just another year.

The internet has exploded with all this bullshit about December 21st, 2012 and how it’s the end of the world or the age of enlightenment or the return of ancient gods. It’s really crazy how peoples imaginations run wild with this stuff. Of course there is no evidence for any of it. None at all! But man are they selling a lot of books and getting a lot of youtube views. Hey follow the money and the fame seekers.

People love end-of-the-world stories. It gets us all excited and freaked out. It’s the same reason we go to the theater to see scary movies or movies about… the end of the world. We love that shit. We eat it up.

What else do we love? Ancient stuff. Mysteries. A belief that there is some secret knowledge and/or secret societies possessing such secret knowledge. Information that we have to dig for (via Google two clicks away usually) and that we are now part of a small few that are aware of this secret knowledge the rest of the world doesn’t know about or denies. It makes us feel special, like we belong to something. If that knowledge is hidden in ancient carvings or texts, even better! Because they’re old, so they must be more knowledgable than us right? I mean they did build space shuttles and… err… skyscrapers right? Oh they didn’t. Um… well then they must have been more spiritually connected to the earth and mother nature that they had secret knowledge passed to them right? Right?

Sadly so many people don’t actually stop and think it through. Instead they build on all these stories because it’s fun. They want it to be true because they feel that in some way it will add meaning to their lives. So they propagate these rumors or stories by posting their own videos and blog entries and status updates and telling all their friends. They deny the skeptics as being close minded and not in the loop.

The reality is, there is no planet X (Nibiru) heading toward our earth. We would have seen it by now. Any one of you with you own telescope could have seen it by now.

As for the Mayan calendar ending on December 21st, 2012, that’s just when it ends. If the Mayans who made that long count calendar where still around, they would gladly create a new calendar to continue on with. But they aren’t. You know what? We can do it for them and put all of this to rest. Hey, isn’t that an idea.
